Helicopter View of Rotterdam

Photographed & edited by Riccardo Vincenzi. Artist's recommendation: 28" x 40" (70cm x 100cm) printed on aluminum.

Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the Netherlands, the 10th largest city in Europe, and Europe's largest seaport. It derives its name literally; in the 12th century, the Dutch constructed a dam on the river Rotte in order to settle there.

Rotterdam is particularly famous for its modern architectural styles, and a lack of older styles. This is because of World War II; in 1940, the Germans conducted an aerial bombardment of Rotterdam, known as the Rotterdam Blitz.Due to this, almost the entire city had to be rebuilt from scratch. In spite of this, Rotterdam is now a thriving contemporary metropolitan area.
